Professor Piotr Radziszewski (specialist in urology, in the course of specialization in clinical oncology), honorary doctorate of the Charles Davilli University, is the Head of the Urology Clinic of the Medical University of Warsaw, he has been involved in international scientific research for many years. Co-founder of the International Society for the Study of Urinary Incontinence, a member of the Board of the International Society for Continuity, a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Urological Association.

The Professor's most important clinical and scientific achievements are:

  • creating a proprietary method of treating urinary incontinence and retention with botulinum toxin,
  • developing a diagram of diagnostic and therapeutic management in patients with newly discovered MS and observation of patients with slowly progressive and progressive relapses,
  • development and implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic methods in patients with neurogenic bladder,
  • development of guidelines for the treatment of functional sub-bladder obstacle and detrusor insufficiency,
  • development of proprietary methods of treating painful bladder syndrome and interstitial cystitis,
  • research on the usefulness of biomarkers in the early diagnosis of cancer,
  • creating an algorithm for focal (organ-saving) treatment in prostate cancer.

What’s type A botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin (BTX), is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon endings at the neuromuscular junction and thus diminishes muscle contractions. Injected in small doses into the skin or bladder wall paraliże in a controleed manner the targeted muscle

How the bladder injection with botulinum toxin is performed?

There is no need for any extra preparations for botulinum toxin therapy.
The only additional recommendation is to have a sterile urine culture (without bacteria) and to urinate directly before the procedure.

The patient is placed on a special urological chair with leg supports.
Using a cystoscope, the doctor can see the inside of the bladder and inject botulinum toxin to its muscles. The procedure lasts only about
60 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia by a urologist
in the nurse's attendance.

A doctor under the control of a cystoscope inserted through the bladder injects the 20-30 sites in the bladder. After about an hour after the procedure, the patient can be discharged home.
